Wine, for your health
April 28th, 2008Gangrene Pubic Transit. Err, I mean Going Green with Public Transit!
April 24th, 2008So, I did the entire commute today public transit style in the belated spirit of Earth day and getting my green on. I have to admit that I really enjoyed the benefits, and may hang up the car keys on a more frequent basis. But was it a better way to travel?
My current commute takes me down to DC from the Reston area. This is a shit commute for anyone without an HOV carpool or lame-o hybrid (i want one). It is about 23 miles one way, or 46 miles round trip. I’m getting about 20 miles to the gallon - a little less, really
- so with gas at 3.53 today, this is 8.12 in fuel.
The Faifax connector will charge you only .35 cents for the bus trip round trip if conducted to the metro and back in the same day - an incentive to bus it to the metro. Metro at rush hour is 3.10, so 6.20 round trip. But wait, theirs more! I left at 7:20 or so making my fare only 1.85 on the way home. So, this puts me at 4.95. With the bus fare, I spent 5.30.
That’s a difference of $2.82 overall - more than 34%! What’s more is that it also took roughly 20-25 minutes off my commute, and the entire time I could play on the iPhone, read the Onion, or sleep. Anything but stare into the sea of cars that awaits me most mornings. I’m looking forward to getting my public transit on more often.
Coffee & Pee
April 16th, 2008I love to drink a nice big ass cup of coffee in the morning. I’m not talking about bullshit Folger’s or Maxwell Shithouse.
I’m talking gourmet freshly ground beans brewed to sweet perfection in my French Press.
The thing I’m not a big fan of is the weird stanky coffee smelling pee that inevitably happens about an hour or so after I finish. It’s a sour reminder of my once delicious coffee. It’s a good thing I like my coffee so much that I can put up with my stanky piss. Oh well, at least I know I’m not the only one with this issue.
Cheers!
photo post on the go
April 14th, 2008I’m looking for something that can let me do a photo post while I’m dorking around somewhere and don’t want to be at a computer to put it up. Special issue in this case is that with iPhone it is best/cheapest/built-in design to send a photo via email. I’m too lazy to look this up, and not lazy enough to not write about it. Maybe I can recharge the batteries and get a second wind.
bitch-blog
April 13th, 2008got to work too freakin much. what’s worse is that either no one is listening, or i’m being thrown under the bus. or both. went to the apple store today. a place where you can check out while you walk around (if an associated walks with you with his handheld cash register). Had to get a new iphone headset which is only online or in the store. For some reason, mine went dead on the left side, so maybe I’ll return the busted set tomorrow. Not a fan of the input jack that is slightly different than your regular jack. I’m tired. Peace.
This boat can float!
April 1st, 2008I’m posting here to get a feel for the ease of use and natural curves and feel of Windows Live Writer. This all just feels so natural, as if Live Writer has known me for years! Live Writer, nay! - Love Writer! I command you to post this blog posthaste! The future is looking good. Real good.
